Teen Book Review: Airhead by Meg Cabot and Hallowmere Vol. 1 by Tiffany Trent

Airhead by Meg Cabot

Emerson Watts is sick of mooning over her best friend Christopher who only thinks of her as a worthy video game opponent. But she soon realizes how precious her life was when she’s crushed by a huge plasma TV and wakes up in the body of America’s sweetheart, Nikki Howard. Christopher misses Em dearly and mourns his best friend, much to the chagrin of “Nikki”, who must fend off the attractive Brandon Stark, son of her boss and stunning British crooner Gabriel Luna, both of whom find Nikki dazzling. To make matters worse, she suspects foul play on the part of her employer, Stark Enterprises. Uh oh. What’s a self-proclaimed tomboy with a bad case of unrequited love to do?

Cabot is a star at adept digression, just the right amount of humor, fresh characters and plot, and above all, fluff. There are tons of love triangles, and enough of glitzy LA to satisfy any Gossip Girl aficionado, yet accompanied with Em Watt’s singular dry wit.

Be warned: Cabot knows how to work those cliffhangers, and you’ll be running to pick up Being Nikki, the even more twisted sequel in the series. Runway, the third novel, comes out next May.

I think that this book was a fantasy-filled mystery that was very suspenseful. It was a wonderful book that I could not put down. I recommend it to readers who like mystery, fantasy or both. :)
