Movie and Munchies voting results

The results are in! You were given the choice and you spoke loud and clear... the winner, and movie that will be shown tomorrow, is Kung fu Panda! Fabulous display- YA magazines

On Tuesday, January 13th the Teen Decorating Committee got to work decorating the metal holders that house the back issues of our young adult magazine collection. The holders were sturdy and functional, but... let's just say... not so pleasing to the eye.





Now, thanks to the hard work and creativity of the decorating committee, these magazine holders are oh-so-cool! Check out the pictures:

Hey, speaking of movies... did you know that Sunday, January 18th at 2:00pm we're having a movie afternoon for teens? Not just any movie showing, but one that YOU get to choose.

Visit the Hauppauge Public Library website before Friday, January 16th to have your voice heard. Click on what we like to call "the fade"- that's the box of rotating program announcements that fade from one image to another. When you see the ad for "Teen Movie and Munchies", click on it and it will take you to a page where you can vote on which movie you'd like us to show. Voting ends this Friday (January 16th) so act now!

Remember, Teen Movie and Munchies... this Sunday, January 18th... 2:00pm.

Oh, and make sure to sign-up for this program by calling us or stopping by the library- this way we can stock up on the right amount of munchies!

Happy New Year!

It's coming close to the end of 2008. In a few short hours the ball will drop, noisemakers will sound and 2009 will be ushered in!

We hope this past year has treated you well and you are all looking forward to the new year with anticipation. I know we are here at the Hauppauge Library! We have many exciting things planned for this coming year... new programs, more volunteer opportunities, and my own personal resolution for the new year... more frequent blog postings!!

If you have any opinions or ideas on any way to make the Hauppauge Library better for teens in 2009, (or any age group really) let your voice be heard- get involved in our monthly Teen Advisory Board meetings, speak to one of the librarians next time you visit, or comment to this post. Tell us what you've liked in the past, or what you'd like to see/do at the library in the future. Whether it's a suggestion for a program we've never had, or the addition of an item to the library's collection, or a new way to look at something we've always done- we'd like to hear from you.

May your hopes and dreams be realized in 2009! Happy New Year to one and all!
